Ex I.O.I Kyulkyung Refuted Dating Rumors with Former Cube Trainee “Paparazzi Video Leaked”
On March 4th, the agency of Joo Kyulkyung published a screenshot of the the idol-actress’ recent dating rumor on their official Weibo account, along with the word “fake” and an “X” mark on the photo, directly refuting the content of the rumor.
Additionally, the person rumored to be dating Kyulkyung, Oscar Wang, also wittily responded to the rumors by saying “We are just friends,” and “Let’s watch the Oscars together.”
Meanwhile, previously on March 3rd, Chinese media outlets such as Sohu Entertainment reported, “Kyulkyung and Oscar have been caught up in dating rumors.” The paparazzi video released by the media shows Kyulkyung and Oscar wearing matching outfits and entering the same apartment complex late at night. Kyulkyung, wearing a red cap, was seen looking at her phone while having a friendly conversation with Oscar.
Following the release of the video, both sides quickly denied the rumors. Kyulkyung posted on her personal account, “Ah, I just woke up?” Meanwhile, Oscar also dismissed the speculation, saying, “We’re just friends. We were simply watching the Oscars together.“
Born in 1998, Kyulkyung ranked 6th on Mnet’s “Produce 101” in 2016 and debuted as a member of I.O.I. She later promoted with PRISTIN from 2017 to 2019 before returning to China in 2020, where she established Zhou Jieqiong Studio and pursued a solo career.
Oscar, also known as Oscar Wang, is a Chinese singer and dancer. Born in 1998 in São Paulo, Brazil, he trained at Cube Entertainment—the agency of (G)I-DLE—for three years. He gained popularity after participating in Youku’s idol survival show “We Are Young” in 2020 and Tencent’s audition show “CHUANG 2021” under the name Oscar. At the time, he also stirred controversy for appealing to audiences with LGBTQ+ themes.
